What is this neighbourhood worth?
Before spending three Saturdays in one street, it is reasonable to know what it can return. This turns a sector into two numbers: the theoretical ceiling, and what an honest close rate leaves of it.
The sector
The close rate is the one number nobody can hand you: it depends on your pitch and on your face. Cold, door to door, on small local businesses, 3 to 6 % is a defensible assumption; past 10 % you are probably not cold any more.
2 508 €
- Real targets 33
- Signatures expected 1.3
- Theoretical ceiling 62 700 €
- Doors per signature 25
A sector this size is a few outings of work.
The ceiling is good for exactly one thing
Deciding whether the street deserves your Saturday. The number that matters is the other one: what remains once you apply a close rate you have actually observed. A neighbourhood with a 60,000 € ceiling and a 4 % close rate is worth two thousand and change — which is fine for three hours of walking, as long as you have not promised ten thousand to your bank.
- Where to get the business count
In France the SIRENE register is public, free and queryable without a key
through
recherche-entreprises.api.gouv.fr. It is the most reliable source, and it is the one Towncenter uses. - Where to get the share without a site Nowhere in one go: it has to be checked business by business. On local high-street trade roughly half have no site of their own — many have only a Google profile and an abandoned Facebook page.
- What this ignores Word of mouth. One signature in a street often brings a second three doors down, and this calculation has no way to count that.
